Evelyn’s first percussion teacher asked her to make the sound of a tractor using only a snare drum. Evelyn asked questions. Is it an old tractor? Is it a new one? Is it travelling up a hill? Is it sitting rusting in a field? She examined the brief and my portrait reflects her attention to detail, her examination of the subject, and the thought process she enters into with every piece of music.
